A Return to Art

I now indulge myself in the amateur drawing. I stopped drawing for ten years because I thought it was a waste of time. (I stopped it when I entered college). 

After a burnout episode at work, caused by this growing shadow of feeling like a failure to what I was yearning for while forced to work in something I don't care about.

 So  I  recently returned to drawing to the level I had in school. What helped me to enjoy making art once again is simply because I decided to be comfortable with the fact that I would not make money out of it. I think we are at fault to think about such creative endeavours are means to other ends.

I look forward to being my own patreon and work fewer hours to allow myself to freely pursuit creativity.

Portifolio Translating

I've been working on my architectural portfolio for a while, but sometimes get discouraged because I used to spend much of my design time analyzing the problem and writing my thoughts about it, in Arabic and dear it took me hours to figure names of spaces like Auditorium, intervention scheme, Sterile corridor,  or  storage .. yes storage! Beyond The Mechanical Understanding of Things

When we understand that the mechanical view of the world is been built on a method of gaining knowledge, not knowledge itself, we might be able to set on the first step of gaining that missing knowledge. Imagining the world as a machine of push/pull factors was the method to answer how things work mechanically not how things work. Christopher Alexander wrote in his book "Nature of Order: The Phenomenon of Life" that what makes us create this lifeless modern building is our new disturbed understanding of the world (as a machine), confusing the parts we understand as they are the entire whole. Maybe this is why we say "the whole is greater than the parts" because we have only understood one part of these "parts" so we can't yet manage to build the entire "whole" picture. So if we admit having some missing parts but still somehow grasp the whole then maybe we could grasp a bit the nature of the universe?. Ok, let's try this on...
